Airlines such as GOL, LATAM and others participated in the federal government's Safe Shipping program, which is a gov.br facial recognition program, where identification documents and boarding passes are dispensed with.
The initiative of the program is from the Ministry of Infrastructure and the objective is to make boarding a safer, more agile and comfortable process. The program is still being tested, which began in October last year and will last until September this year. In Congonhas, Santos Dumont and Confins, the program is underway. In Salvador and Florianópolis, the technology is being updated. After the end of the testing period, the program must be used at the main airports in the country.
“GOL, which was born with the DNA of innovation and technology, continually invests in partnerships, products and services that improve the experience and optimize the customers' time. This Embarque Seguro initiative will bring more comfort and safety to our customers' journey at the airport,” says GOL's Director of Airport Operations.
However, the airline that helped the most in the program was LATAM, with more than 1320 passengers boarded so far. The company will maintain up to two daily flights dedicated to the test at its main hub, Brasília Airport, until biometrics can be permanently adopted.
“We are committed to innovations that contribute to reducing queues and making the traveler's journey faster, safer and more autonomous”, says Mauro Peneda, Airport Director at LATAM Brasil.
