Hurricane Grace, which passed through the Cayman Islands yesterday morning, August 18, led Cayman Airways to decide to suspend all its flights scheduled for this date, prioritizing the safety of its employees and passengers.
The suspension applied to the three islands, as well as to the cargo operations of Cayman Airways Cargo and to the ticket sales and administrative offices.
Operations resumed normally today, and the airline said passengers traveling to the United States or Jamaica will not need to take another Covid-19 test, as according to regulations, in case of flight delays, it is accepted 24-hour extension of the exam validity period.
The weather event caused heavy rains and winds close to 100 km/h, moving west, to where the tropical storm condition will extend over part of the southern coast of Cuba. There is a hurricane warning in the east of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico and persistent rain is forecast across the region for the next few days.
