Oklahoma-based company Interstate Helicopters is authorized to fly only in helicopters, however, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) says that between September 2016 and April 2017, the company carried out about 24 charter flights from passengers on jet planes.
The proposed penalty for the company is US$617,000, or 3.2 million reais, at the current price.
But a more serious charge is that the company used pilots who did not complete training and were not qualified for this type of operation, although the FAA did not specify the models of aircraft used.
Interstate Helicopters has 30 days to respond to the FAA's allegations.
