Last Sunday, Oct. 3, a Pilatus PC-12 aircraft crashed in the Milan region of northern Italy, five minutes after take-off, killing eight people, according to the National Air Safety Agency (ANSV). ).
The aircraft departed from Linate airport in Milan, bound for Olbia, Sardinia, when it collided with a building under renovation – which was empty – and caught fire shortly thereafter.
Il Corriere de la Sera newspaper and Italian agency AGI reported that the pilot was identified as Dan Petrescu, the 68-year-old Romanian billionaire. Other victims included his 65-year-old wife and 30-year-old son Dan Stefano, as well as a child.
Dan Petrescu, who was also of German nationality, was one of the richest men in Romania, and he ran a large group in the construction sector and owned hypermarkets and shopping centers.
The accident will be investigated by ANSV.
