In partnership with MagniX, an electric aviation company, Flapper, a Brazilian on-demand air charter company, announced an agreement to acquire up to 20 electric propulsion units (EPUs) of the magni650 model so that it is possible to convert the Cessna Grand Caravan to use electric propulsion.

MagniX's electric propulsion unit has the potential to power the Cessna Grand Caravan, currently used by Flapper for regular passenger services in São Paulo and for cargo services in Latin America. The engine has good reliability and performance compatible with the needs, in addition to being able to work with different energy sources, such as batteries or fuel cells.

The use of the propellant can ensure more sustainable aircraft, in addition to reducing operating costs and maintaining the high safety that the Cessna Grand Caravan offers.

“We are excited to partner with magniX, a leader in the international electric aviation industry,” said Paul Malicki, CEO of Flapper.

“Our agreement with Flapper opens the way for the air transport of passengers and cargo with zero carbon emissions in Brazil and Latin America”, comments Roei Ganzarski, CEO of magniX.

The contract provides that Flapper will contribute to the planning, review and coordination of the certification process for the aircraft's new thrusters. In addition, it must provide technical advice and carry out flight tests. The launch is scheduled for 2024.

With big ambitions, Flapper wants to neutralize carbon emissions by 2025. Although business aviation is a smaller sector of aviation, responsible for only 0.6% of total CO2 emissions, it is great for testing technologies that have less environmental impact .
