It is already known to most people that Boeing started to hire Embraer engineers since last year at a great pace after Boeing gave up on buying Embraer's commercial division.

However, an infomoney report showed that harassment with these professionals is high. Even the threat to national sovereignty is questioned in court.

According to the publication, Boeing's focus is on senior-level engineers with several years of experience, especially in the strategy area and who have confidential and privileged information. In addition, employees from the entire Brazilian aerospace hub are being hired. Since last year, the American manufacturer has already hired more than 200 Brazilian engineers, of which 90 were Embraer employees.

The publication says that, according to Embraer, the professionals “mostly held leadership positions, and had, on average, more than 13 years of work at the company”.

Former employees claim that, when Boeing announced the purchase of Embraer's commercial division, it was not only interested in the market-leading aircraft in the category, but also in the technical staff.

To try to fight this harassment, Embraer is increasing the salaries of professionals in strategic positions and paying benefits. However, companies in the Brazilian aerospace sector say they cannot compete with Boeing.

Roberto Gallo, president of Abimde (Brazilian Association of Defense and Security Material Industries), declared last year that the impact caused by Boeing on the Brazilian defense industry is already significant.

“For every engineer designing an aircraft, you employ another 47 people. If I lose this engineering capability, if I lose 100 engineers, I lose 4,700 other jobs,” he said.

Boeing only stated that “Brazil has a rich history in aviation, cutting-edge technical universities and a strong engineering ecosystem” and that it hopes to “continue to contribute to the Brazilian aerospace industry”.
