Embraer sees the possibility of selling its regional jets to the Lufthansa group and to LOT. The potential sale could increase the companies' capacity and even reduce CO2 emissions.
The Lufthansa Group wants to replace almost 200 narrow-body aircraft with an average age of almost 20 years. These planes include the Bombardier CRJ900, The Embraer E190, the E195 and the Airbus A319.
Embraer believes it can sell up to 210 aircraft to the German Group, which is modernizing and expanding its fleet by the end of this decade. The possible sale would be 170 E195-E2 and forty E190-E2.
The aircraft could also be part of City Airlines, the group's new company that will compete with low-cost airlines.
In addition, Lufthansa's CEO said that the company wants to diversify its fleet so as not to become so dependent only on Airbus and Boeing.
Another possible sale is for LOT Polish Airlines, which already operates E175, E-190 and E-195, totaling around 40 planes. The company would use the new aircraft for its modernization, as its fleet already has an average age of around 19 years.
Embraer used the Media Day last week to highlight the positive points of the E2.
