11 Chinese airlines have already returned to operations with the Boeing 737 MAX. According to Boeing, about half of the existing MAX fleet in the country is already flying again.

There are around 43 narrowbodies back in commercial service in the second largest aircraft market in the world. The planes have gradually returned to service since being grounded in 2019. After the necessary modifications and the recertification of the plane in China in 2021, this was one of the markets that took the longest to fly again with the MAX.

"The move (bringing the plane back) reaffirms our commitment to our civil aircraft customers in China. The equipment upgrade allows us to further enhance our support for Chinese 737 MAX customers as they expand aircraft operations in and around around China," said Sherry Carbary, president of Boeing China.

However, deliveries of the plane to China have yet to resume. The last Chinese airline to take delivery of the 737 MAX was China Southern Airlines in October 2018.

Boeing has more than 100 MAXs waiting to be delivered in China, even as some companies canceled their orders after the plane grounded in 2019.

There is still no information about a forecast for the resumption of deliveries of the plane in the country.
