Acelen, an energy company created by the Mubadala Capital fund, will invest more than R$ 12 billion over the next ten years in the production of renewable fuels, including SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel).
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between representatives of the company, the UAE fund Mubadala Capital and Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues (PT) intends to start production of renewable fuels in 2026. There will be 20,000 barrels of SAF and renewable diesel per day.
“Bahia will also have a commitment to tax incentives and investment in infrastructure and logistics. We are happy to take this further step to continue with the development of the state”, announced the governor.
The works will start in 2024 and the fuel should all be exported, because, according to Acelen, there is no legislation that allows sales to the Brazilian market.
The company will become one of the world market leaders in this type of product.
The company will invest in genetics, improvement of agricultural productivity and selection of suitable areas. Also, an industrial-scale seed germination laboratory will be created, investing in research with public and private institutions.
The project is all thought of sustainability, including in order to recover degraded areas.
In addition, it is expected that R$ 85 billion will be moved in the Brazilian economy by 2035.
According to the FGV, more than 90,000 direct and indirect jobs will be created.
