The new head of Boeing Business Jets (BBJ), Joe Benson, started the week with the announcement that the company has received orders for up to four long-range executive jets, two Boeing 787-8, one 737-7 and an option purchase order for a 777-9. Customers were not revealed. However, this is the first order for an executive 777X.
"With the right combination of comfort, performance and best-in-class operating economics, the BBJ family offers VIP customers all the features they are looking for in a business jet. Designed on the platforms of Boeing's best-selling commercial aircraft, customers recognize the value in operating the most reliable and capable jets in the world," said Benson.
With the low-density layout used by private customers, all jets have considerable range, reaching distances that would not be possible for regular versions of the planes. The BBJ777-9 has a very long range, with 20,418 km. The BBJ777-8 can fly even further: 21,570 km.
A curiosity is that these executive jets are very expensive. For example, Forbes says the list price of the BBJ777-9 is $453.6 million.
However, the BBJ777-9 still does not have a debut date, since the 777X in the common passenger version has not yet been introduced into the market, which should only happen in 2025.
