The order announced by the national airline of Algeria is divided into 5 A330-900neo and two A350-1000. The widebodies will support the company's growth.
Despite the announcement of the agreement, the companies did not specify when the deliveries will take place, which are expected to start in the second half of 2025. It is also not known whether the new aircraft will replace the current fleet of 8 A330-200s older than the airline. it has.
The agreement means gains for both sides, since Airbus has lately been winning more orders, gaining space in front of its American rival Boeing. On the Algerian side, the request is a boost for the economy, as more jobs will be generated, helping tourism and trade.
This order comes just weeks after Air Algérie placed another order for eight narrow-body Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, with deliveries scheduled for 2027. The airline currently operates 26 previous-generation 737 jets.
While the new planes do not arrive, Air Algérie intends to make leasing agreements for ten aircraft, six Airbus A330s and four Boeing 737s.
