An order for 25 Airbus A321neos was placed in October 2022 for an undisclosed customer. The client was revealed only yesterday (20th) as Volaris, an ultra-low-cost Mexican company.
The company, which exclusively operates Airbus planes, intends to renew its entire fleet of previous generation planes for neos by 2028.
"The superior performance and efficiency of the A321neo will continue to drive the growth of the Volaris network. As the fleet grows, the airline will be well positioned to meet future demand, especially in the Mexican leisure market," said Christian Scherer, Commercial Director and Head of Airbus International.
Volaris became an Airbus customer in 2006, and is now the largest operator of the A320neo family in Latin America.
The order brings Volaris' backlog to 143 Airbus aircraft and, according to the airline's CEO, Enrique Beltranena, the planes will ensure the company's growth in Mexico and on routes to the United States and Central America.
It is worth remembering that Mexico's largest airline, Aeromexico, operates a fleet exclusively of Boeing planes.
