Pegasus Airlines, Turkey's second largest airline, has placed an order for 36 Airbus A321neo aircraft.
The company wants to expand its fleet with Airbus aircraft. This new order is in addition to the previous one from 2012, which was changed in 2017, 2021 and 2022 to 114 aircraft.
Thus, the company will have a fleet of 150 A320neo family aircraft by 2029, 108 of which will be A321neo, with a cabin for up to 239 passengers.
"We embark on our journey with the belief that everyone has the right to fly and we remain equally dedicated to operational efficiency, financial performance and sustainability for our industry and the world. With these goals in mind, we continue to work diligently and determinedly to our fleet modernization strategy, focusing on saving fuel and unit costs and reducing emissions. Through our recent agreement with Airbus, adding 36 new 321-seat A239neo aircraft, which are the aircraft type most efficient in its class, we will expand and modernize our fleet," said CEO Güliz Öztürk
Pegasus Airlines has a business model that has enabled its rapid post-pandemic recovery and had the highest operating profitability worldwide in 2022, according to Öztürk.
In addition, the company expects to increase its capacity by 20% by the end of 2023, when its fleet should already exceed 100 aircraft.
