According to Leeham News, Air India (AI), owned by the Tata group, will receive 55 new Boeing 737 MAX that were previously assigned to the Chinese market.
There will be 55 aircraft, which should form part of Air India's recent order for 190 jets, not being an addition to the original order. In addition, 10 planes were transferred to Air India Express, a low-cost subsidiary of the Indian carrier.
Boeing had previously spoken about reselling the previously designated planes to the Chinese market. At the time, the company confirmed that 228 737 MAX were in stock, 85 of which were for buyers in China and that 55 had already been resold.
Despite the Boeing 737 MAX having already restarted its flights in China, new planes have not yet started to be delivered.
