Embraer announced that the Civil Aviation Authority of China (CAAC) has certified the E195-E2 to fly. The plane receives its type certification months after the certification of the E190-E2, in November last year. The certification means that the plane can now be sold in the country.

It is worth remembering that Airbus' rival, the A220, has not yet obtained the same certification.

"Our team in China is actively working with potential customers and making good progress. There are significant opportunities for the E2 in China, which offers complementary capability to China's native ARJ21 and C919 aircraft; combined, they provide flexible, efficient and environmentally friendly options. for Chinese airlines, meeting the demand of the world's fast-growing air transport market,” said Arjan Meijer, President and CEO, Embraer Commercial Aviation.

The aircraft is the largest available in Embraer's E-jets family. The plane is seen as very efficient and fuel efficient.

"China is moving closer to carbon neutrality. The E195-E2 is the most environmentally efficient aircraft in its class. With a maximum of 146 seats, the E195-E2 is just the right size to profitably complement larger narrowbodies on low density, connecting regional airports and offering travelers living in secondary and tertiary cities unique access to routes around the world," said Guo Qing, General Manager and VP Commercial Aviation, Embraer China.

Although Embraer has not sold any E195-E2s in China yet, the company believes in growth in Asia; Since 2008, the Brazilian manufacturer has been selling E-jets in China. Embraer has already considered creating an assembly line in China, provided there is sufficient demand. The company has already produced the ERJ 145 in the country, in partnership with AVIC.
